RHEUMATOLOGY
Rheumatology is the medical specialty that diagnoses and manages systemic autoimmune diseases.
Common conditions that are managed by a rheumatologist include inflammatory arthritis, lupus, vasculitis, scleroderma, connective tissue disease, autoimmune myositis, IgG4 disease.
Depending on the disease, a combination of non-pharmacological interventions (such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy) and/or medication-based treatments, ranging from oral to injectable medications or joint injections may be recommended.
Appointments are only available upon referral from a supervising medical doctor. Please consult your health practitioner or family physician for a referral.
A complete detailed history is important to help a rheumatologist diagnose and treat a client's condition. Please make sure that you have all available documentation including relevant clinical notes, bloodwork and imaging results forwarded to our office from your other health practitioners. Please bring a current medication list when you attend your first appointment.
